I have a semi-homebrew linear amplifier with four glowing globes of goodness.....a quad of 3-500ZGs. Keeps the shack nice and warm on cold Fairbanks winters. This beast can loaf along all day at full legal power on RTTY without asking "Mother May I."

The Alexanderson Alternator just had a LOT of poles. It didn't have to turn too very fast.
